Maruti Suzuki e Vitara India Launch on December 2: All You Need to Know

Maruti Suzuki is set to make a significant entry into India’s electric vehicle market with the launch of its first all-electric SUV, the e Vitara, on December 2, 2025. This launch marks a milestone for the country’s largest carmaker as it taps into the booming passenger EV segment. Produced exclusively at Maruti Suzuki’s Hansalpur facility in Gujarat—which also serves as the global export hub—the e Vitara has already been making waves overseas with around 7,000 units shipped to markets including the UK, Germany, France, and Norway.

Design and Platform

Built on Suzuki’s state-of-the-art Heartect-e platform, developed exclusively for electric vehicles, the e Vitara boasts a modern design inspired by the EVX concept showcased earlier this year. Key design features include angular LED headlamps with signature Y-shaped DRLs, muscular body cladding, connected tail-lamps, and a commanding road presence. Inside, the SUV features a clean, contemporary cabin with a twin-screen setup—10.1-inch infotainment touchscreen paired with a 10.25-inch digital driver display—rotary gear selector, ambient lighting, and premium soft-touch materials.

Powertrain and Battery Options

The e Vitara will be available with two battery pack options:

  • 49kWh battery: Powers a front-mounted motor producing 144hp with a WLTP-rated range of 344km.
  • 61kWh battery: Offers 174hp and a two-wheel-drive setup delivering up to 428km of WLTP range. This variant is expected to launch first in India, promising over 500km of range on the Indian ARAI cycle.

Internationally, there is also a dual-motor, all-wheel-drive variant producing 184hp, but this AWD version may not be available in India immediately.

Features and Safety

The e Vitara is expected to come equipped with premium features such as ventilated front seats, wireless charging, a 360-degree camera system, 10-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, and Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) in higher trims for enhanced safety and convenience.

Production and Support Network

Production commenced in August 2025 at the Hansalpur plant. Maruti Suzuki is simultaneously building an EV ecosystem around the launch, including DC fast chargers at Nexa outlets and over 1,500 EV-ready service centers spanning 1,000 cities to support e Vitara owners.

Competitors and Pricing

The e Vitara will compete against popular midsize electric SUVs like the Hyundai Creta Electric, Tata Curvv.ev, MG ZS EV, VinFast VF6, and Mahindra BE 6. Prices in India are expected to start around Rs 20 lakh (ex-showroom) for the base variant and go up to Rs 25 lakh for the top-spec 61kWh edition.

Conclusion

The Maruti Suzuki e Vitara launch on December 2, 2025, represents a major step forward in electrifying India’s automotive market. With competitive range, advanced tech, extensive support infrastructure, and attractive pricing, the e Vitara is poised to challenge the established electric SUVs and secure Maruti’s foothold in the EV segment.
