### Adding a list of numbers

#### Rule: Look for number pairs that make a multiple of 10

**Example**: 17 + 26 + 33 + 44

Now, the list can be sequentially added as follows :

17 + 26 = 43 then 43 + 33 = 76 then 76 + 44 = 120

Or

You could look for number pairs that make multiples of 10.

17 + 33 is 50 and 26 + 44 is 70

Now, 50 + 70 = 120

**Similar Examples:**74 + 54 + 86 + 97

= (74 + 86) + (54 + 96 + 1)

= 160 + 151 = 311

**Or ** 2 + 4 + 7 + 9 + 2 + 8 + 6 + 1

= (2 + 8) + (4 + 6) + (9 + 1) + 7 + 2

= 10 + 10 + 10 + 7 + 2

= 30 + 9

= 39
