The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has decided to accept scanned copies of handwritten assignments through email in view of the lockdown enforced in the country to fight the Corona Virus Disease Covid -19 pandemic. The university has done this to make submission of assignment easier for students.

“In view of the complete lockdown to combat the COVID-19 pandemic, the University has decided to facilitate assignment submission by learners through email. Learners can submit scanned copies of handwritten assignments through email to the respective RC email. The Regional Centres will accept scanned copies of handwritten assignments through a dedicated email id and take care for further process of evaluation,” reads the official notification.

The learners have been advised to submit scanned copies of their hand written assignments by email to their respective study centers.

For each Course, the assignment responses should be scanned in ONE single pdf file. That is, if there are 10 questions in one assignment, there should NOT be 10 separate pdf files for these 10 answers. There should be scanned in ONE single pdf file for easy download & evaluation at RC.

The assignment question papers are available on University website
“https://webservices.ignou.ac.in/assignments/”

Earlier, IGNOU had also extended the last date for submission of assignments to April 30 from the earlier scheduled date of March 31, 2020.

Amid the ongoing Corona Virus Disease (CoViD-19) scare a new scare as engulfed the people. This new scare crops up from a news that first appeared on Daily Express & suggested that on April 29, the world is going to end as an asteroid as big as the Himalayas is going to hit the planet.

The Claim

Some Facebook users posted a video clip about an asteroid approaching the Earth. The caption reads that the world will come to an end on April 29. This was then shared by a lot of people, which created a panic.

The news first appeared on Daily Express with the headline – Asteroid warning: NASA tracks a 4KM asteroid approach – Could end civilisation if it hits. People started believing that this asteroid will cause an end of the world.

FACT CHECK

NASA is continuously monitoring the trajectory speed, and distance of this asteroid 52768 (1998 OR2) along with many others. NASA discovered this asteroid in 1998, and since then it has been observing its movements.

The twitter account of NASA Asteroid Watch has tweeted that On April 29, asteroid 1998 OR2 will safely pass Earth by 3.9 million miles/6.2 million km. A @Daily_Express article implying there is a “warning” about this asteroid is false.

This asteroid (asteroid 52768 (1998 OR2)), with an estimated diameter of 1.8 km to 4.1 km, will fly past Earth from an estimated distance of 3.9 million miles at an estimated speed of around 20000 miles per hour. This means that it will come no closer to earth than about 16 times the distance between the Earth and Moon.

Final Verdict : FALSE

Multiplying a number by 5 – Learn Vedic Maths for Fast & Easy Calculations

Vedic Maths Tricks is a collection of techniques to solve math problems in an easy and faster way, given to this world by ancient Indian scholars. The name Vedic Maths is derived from a Sanskrit word ‘Veda’ which means ‘Knowledge’.

By Learning Vedic Maths Tricks, complex math problems can be solved very simply. Learn Vedic Maths is a boon for all those preparing for competitive exams such as JEE, SSC etc. where time is crucial.

Here is one such simple Vedic Maths Trick which will help you make math look easy.

Multiplying a number by 5

This trick is super easy.
Take any number, then divide it by 2 (in other words, half the number). If the result is whole, add a 0 at the end. If it is not, ignore the remainder and add a 5 at the end. It works every time:

For example: 1890 x 5 =?
Step 1. 1890 / 2 = 945
Step 2. Whole number, so add 0
The answer will be 1890 x 5 = 9450

Let’s try one more: 1457 x 5
Step 1 1457 / 2 = 728.5
Step 2. Fractional number, so ignore remainder and add 5
The answer will be 1457 x 5 = 7285
